CONSULAR TRAVEL DOCUMENT

For non-resident citizens due to loss or theft of the passport:

This document is an exceptional travel document issued to every Algerian citizen who is not registered at the consulate, which allows him/her to return to Algeria in case his/her passport is lost or stolen. Valid only for return to Algeria, for one trip only and on the shortest route (direct flight from Italy to Algeria).

It can be issued upon presentation of the following documents

• Notification of loss or theft issued by the consulate based on what has been issued by the Italian police station.

A birth certificate.

• Proof of Algerian nationality (copy of passport if available, original or copy of the Algerian national card or a military booklet containing a photograph).
• Two photographs.
• A travel ticket with a confirmed reservation.

For citizens in an irregular situation (voluntary repatriation):

• Proof of Algerian nationality (copy of passport if available, original or copy of Algerian national card or other document containing a photograph).
• A birth certificate.
• Two photographs.
• Airline ticket with confirmed reservation.

Non-resident newborn children:

• Full copy of the child's birth certificate.
• Algerian parents' passport(s).
• Two photographs.
• Ticket with confirmed booking.

Important note: There is no charge for the issuance of a consular passport.
